Weekly update Friday 29 March

Hi everyone

This week was really fun because we had Korfball.  If you don't know what it is, it is a mixture of netball and basketball.  I love it because netball is my favourite sport. The names of the people that taught us was Youri and other Youri.  Korfball is a really fun game to play and I think that everyone can enjoy it.

Don the eel man

Hi everyone
 Today we just had a visit from Don.  He is a scientist on eels he works for NIWA. 

I learnt that......
*They have great small.
*They spend most of their  life in freshwater.
*They can swim backwards and forwards.
*Long fin eels are easy to catch.
*There are 19 different types of eels.
*In the day it can sense things passing.
*They can eat small animals even birds.
*Eels eat their food whole.
*Long fin eels eat their food whole.
*Females are bigger the male.
*They breathe through their gills if not wet.
*Every year they grow an extra ring.
*2 meter they  grow to.
*Males only grow 75 meters long.
*Females are bigger than Males.

It was so fun that Don could come and talk to us.  It was really interesting.

Hi everyone,

Today we had Janet and Phil come and talk to us about South Sudan.  It was so great that they could come and talk to us!!!!!!!! The information that they gave us was so interesting.  They brought in South Sudan coins and all of them had animals on them. 
I learnt that....

* That they can speak 65  languages 

*There is not much power there

*The water comes from the Nile river

*It is very dangerous to travel

* At night it gets to 33 degrees

* In the day it gets to 42 degrees

* Not many people go there

*There are only 4 airoplanes

*It is really dangerous to drive on the roads
* The  $100 dollar note is worth about 30 cents                            

It was great that they could come and talk to us today. It was really fun to learn all of the facts.

Hi everyone

Today we did a live chat with LEARNZ.  I learnt that we can not run out of ground water because of the water cycle.  I also learnt that there is a deep deep deep source of that is called fossil water.  I also learnt that you can make salt water into fresh water.

Green hat day!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Today is green hat day so today we had to wear a hat clip or  headband.  Today I wore a headband with a hat on it but the hat was tiny.  But today it was pouring with rain. Isla was wearing a cool hat and a crazy big bow tie.

After morning tea we have play day we are all looking forward to play.

Hello,

This week has been amazing!!!!!! The highlight for me was our Eel trip on Thursday.
I loved the art that we did there with nature. I did the art with Amy and Keira and we
made a tree. It looked amazing!!!!!
